Well we all shine on, like the moon and the stars and the sun
The Dr.'s performed, what they referred to, as a simple procedure on Deano. A tracheotomy. I guess what the Dr.s consider a "simple procedure" is more like an 8. Earthquake when you are hearing and experiencing for the first time. I am told this will be much more comfortable for Deano and yet when I look at it; it sure does look like it hurts to me. Tomorrow the feeding tube will be removed from his nose and placed in his belly. Simple procedure. Maybe one simple procedure and then all the "simple" procedures start adding up and all of a sudden to the wife they don't seem so simple.
Deano was taken down (because that is how the nurses refer to it) for a CAT scan and according to Carl (one of the Dr.'s on Vesspa's (not princess Vesspa; Dr. Vesspa) team, there is still swelling and they think it is such now that they can begin to wein him from the versed (sedative).
Carl explained to me today that Dean could be in the ICU unit for another 2 to 3 weeks.
And we all shine on, on and on and on.............

I hope that is the Beattles. Yes after working in surgery for 3 years as a med. surg. i can understand how what seems like a simple thing for them is a scary thing for you or us. they forget sometimes that for most of us all we know about hospitals is what we see on TV. On TV, everything is a big big thing with a months worth of drama in only 40 minutes of air time. But, Teri, just as we talk jargon at supper, so to do people that work at icu. They speak of green discharge and fluid loss like a mechanic speaks of changing plugs. it's just the nature of the beast.
When they say a simple procedure, take heart! It means that to them it's like changing plugs and has no cause for concern. I hope that goofy little ditty will lit=ghten your heart. I know that it is hard to stand by and not be able to do the things that your love'd one needs. hard to stand by and see him so hurt. To stand by and watch them seem to do things that seem to hurt him like a trach. But, the trach., like the drug induced coma will help Deano Breath and therefor heal! It brings him closer to us. Thanks agian for keeping us up to date on Dean's progress. Please also keep us up on what you and riley are doing to. Let us know all the things all those wonderful family and freinds you have are doing to help you and riley and Dean.......and Coffee.
Ricky " can we talk about something else besides Mr. johnson's green discharge while we have dinner break please?" Elliott
