I can see clearly now; the rain has gone (well maybe it is still drizzling)
Lots of clinical stuff today; so I will give it my best shot:
Dean was previously on 2 different sedatives (versed and propotal (spelling) in addition to the Pentobarbital. As of noon today the propotal and pentobarbital have been eliminated, for now. So they have Dean on an increased amount of the versed (sedative) and morphine (for pain). The Dr.'s thought that maybe Dean may have been experiencing some pain when they last tried to wein him from the pentobarbital which is why the decision was made to administer the morphine.
As of today the nitrox therapy has ceased (the machine wasn't even in the room) and the respiratory specialist was in and his lungs are looking pretty good right now so they will not be moving him to his belly (prone position). The respiratory specialist was very excited about his lungs today and she said the clearing of his lungs would allow the rest of the body to start healing.
Dean again looked very relaxed today. As a matter of fact after lunch it appeared as if he was laughing. Must be the morphine.
Game's not over yet and boy has it been a rough first quarter. Dean has the ball at the fifty right now. Go offense!!!! Or is it move the ball!!!
It's gonna be a bright sun shiny day (Over 100 in the Valley today)

Wow that's hot! I'm melting just reading it. We got into the 70's today and people were putting ice in their pants. I think that's Jimmy Cliff. he did a song that i first heard by the 3 dog night. It was "Sitting here in Limbo". Prob, find a version on "you tube". I am sorry i haven't been on for awhile to my...(fan club?), for whatever support i can give you Teri and Riley. I couldn't seem to leave a comment. google changed their format for their passwords and mine wasn't long enough or have enough numbers in it. took me 1.5 days to figure out that was the problem. Luddites unite! It sounds like Dean is doing better. It sounds like you are to. I'm a little worried about Dean Henry chasing the white horse again. He had the monkey on his back for 4 days in the '70's when he had surgery on his knee. 2 trips on that dragon in what 30 years? He may have a problem. We should set up an intervetion to get him off the horse and on something more wholesome. like, columbian blend ....Go Dean Go! I'll take out the inside linebacker....
Teri-
Being 2500 miles away from where you guys are makes us appreciate this blog site more than anyone else. Auntie May and family must be happy that we’re provided with a common site where we can get all the information we need, thus, shielding them from what could be vexing daily calls from Bembie for updates!
Teri, thanks for your daily postings. It’s nice to know that you can provide a light hearted disposition even in difficult times. It helps us feel better just as it does you. We relay Dean’s condition to Lillian as soon as we read them. She is just as anxious to know the latest news.
Thanks to Rick, who provides a refreshing mix to your daily blogs. He brings pleasant color to the whole situation and adds much needed humor to the moment. Such brings a certain balance to what could be an otherwise emotional see-saw or anxiety-filled moments of unpleasant news. Blogs from Dean’s friends are very informational. We get to know Dean more through them (since Michael is an age group ahead of him).
Wow! Never knew that Nilla wafers can create muscles! I wonder if it’s not too late for me to hoard those Nilla Wafers from COSTCO and feed them to Michael in his 3 meals and in-between. I also have to replace his Instant Decaf Nescafe with Starbucks Colombian (super-dark) blend. Hopefully the coffee-switch will provide for added endurance. Any other tips?
Ooooops, just got too carried away from the main concern here.
They say prayers can move mountains. I hope so. And we are not even asking for the mountains. We only wanted Dean to get out of his dream state and just move normally as before. We have asked 5 churches to include Dean in their Sunday mass prayers for a month. By the end of the month, at least 7,200 people from this side of the country have prayed for his recovery. We know that the Nambas are naturally gifted with super genes. Hopefully, Dean would walk out of that hospital just as Gary “walked” into the hospital after falling off from a 25-ft. roof!
The Datys in New York
Actually I think it was written by Johnny Nash back in 1972, but none of you were born yet right?
Anyway, it was nice to hear your voice on the phone yesterday Maria. We had a very pleasant evening over at May's. It was a fun group of family, friends and neighbors gathering in solidarity with you and Dean and the rest of the family there in California - not to mention everyone else out there in the cyber world. We will keep the good vibes comming your way.
Cheers,
Tim D.
Over the years, I have been very fortunate to meet many fascinating people. But I've never met people quite like you and Dean.
I was blown away by his kindness, humility and his passion for life. The two of you are so perfect for each other. I am honored to be Dean's friend, and I consider knowing you a treasured gift.
I will continue to pray for Dean's recovery and for your strength. God is still in the miracle business.
Regards
Franklin
