Wednesday, May 6

As time goes on, I realize
Just what you mean to me.
And now, now that you're near,
Promise your love that I've waited to share

By the way Nurses week is from May 6 through May 12 so if any of you have nurses out there, remember to show your appreciation.

It appears Deano is no longer critical, the good news and the bad news. Now his nurse no only has him as her patient bust usually one or two other ones. I guess that seems to be okay but not when my husband has taken a dump and he is visibly uncomfortable and lying there with no words waiting to be cleaned up. Get my drift.

Dean was placed back on pressure support which means he does the breathing and the ventilator just holds a line open so his breathing won't be restricted. He did very well on the pressure support so they placed the trace collar on him for 2 hours and apparently that also went well. It appears that this exercise is quite exhausting for him. The will try the trace collar two more times this evening.

Dean reached up his hand and placed it on my cheek. That felt really, really, really, gooooooooood.

May and I picked-up Jim from the airport today. On Friday, Bonnie, Alex and Miya are coming in.

And dreams of our moments together.
Color my world with hopes of loving you.

Happy Day! O Happy Day! AND Happy Birthday Teri! Hey sista' what an AMAZING present Dean gave you! I tell you, when that Deano really wants to knock your socks off-he knows just how to do it!! Remember? Like the time he hid the emerald ring on a bow on the xmas tree for you!

Wow! He touched your face today!! My birthday wish for you is to allow yourself to celebrate this first really BIG step toward healing. There have been so many reasons to cry, so tonight I hope you raise a glass for Deano. And I, since I can't be with you, will pour a very VERY nice Cab into a sippy cup and raise my glass to you!! Happy Birthday and KNOW absolutely that many celebrate the day you were born.
All my love-
Always,
Kris

Hi Teri, I haven't left a comment in a while but I think about you, Dean and Riley each and every day. It means so much to all of us and we all admire your strength. You are finally getting a dose of Ricky now, something that we have had to endure for many years. He is a character and much more entertaining in person. It was so nice to hear that Dean reached up and placed his hand on your cheek. We will continue to keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Take care, Doug

Thanks for keeping us posted.
I read the blog every day. I was in Germany for 3 weeks and tried to read it every day there, too. You may find this amusing: at a hotel in Regensburg I could not get to the blog. It was apparently blocked by the hotel as it was somehow deemed to be a pornographic site!!!!!

I'm deeply moved, even as reader at a distance, by all of your words, Maria; and today, I'm deeply moved and profoundly grateful that Dean could raise his hand to touch your cheek.

I have not had a doubt that Dean is coming back. And it takes tiiiiiiiiiiiimmmmmeee.

Blessings to you and Dean and Riley. I'll keep holding you all in my heart.
Love, Clover

Teri
Last Thursday brought tears of grief as I allowed myself to momentarily lose my optimism and consider what if this might be as good as it gets. Everyone who knows me knows that my emotions are right out there so I'm not too proud to say that when I read today's blog my eyes welled up when I read that Nambs reached out to you. I can't wait to visit. I'm heading to San Diego for a June 3rd meeting so maybe I can head north to Venice Beach on the 4th for a couple days and see you guys if that works for you. I'll be in touch.
Nice job Nambs!
