Friday, May 8

Here is the deal when you have stayed 5 star; 2 star some how just does not compare.

Christine Stovall stopped by the hospital on her way home tonight and the nurse told her that Deano is there most popular patient. He gets phone calls all day and all the way from New York. That's right let them know we are watching to make sure he is receiving the care he so desperately needs.

I close out my day with a heavy heart or should I say broken heart or maybe it would be more honest to say shattered heart.

I feel helpless and quite frankly hopeless on this day. I can see in Deano's eyes he is not liking this place. I wish I could pick him up from that bed and bring him home with me right now.

Mercy, I give up, I am throwing in the white towel.

Don't give up yet! Instead of seeing the glass half empty, look at it as being half full-Dean knows the difference between the two places-that is a good thing! It will get better, it just takes time and patience-I believe in you Maria, you can do this.

Teri, Okay, first things first: pick up the FRICKING towel! Tia Sylvia is right - God never gives up and neither do we (YOU). There are a lot of folks IN THE WORLD praying for you, Dean and Riley - They aren't giving up, so DON'T YOU GIVE UP. As a person who travels a lot, I know the difference between a 5 star and a two star. I also know my situation is what I make of it. Same with you. If it is a two star where you are called to be, MAKE IT THE BEST TWO STAR EVER! HOPE, HOPE, HOPE lives!!!

Uncle Jimmy.

Hey Teri,
Wow, does this place have rats? Yesterday he touched your face. how wonderful it made you and us all feel. Today, we hear how unhappy you are with the situation. Well all right! We know you're not throwing in the towel.(they charge you for those) But what you're really saying is "We got to get out of this place". If it's the last thing we ever do". "We got to get out of this place, girl there's a better life for Deano and you", Those were the original lyrics to that song. most people don't know that.
Anyway Hang in there. It's still up hill but the grade isn't as high. He touched your hair. He hand bumped Jim. He low five'd. He has expression in his eyes. I hear wonderful things in the angst you leave on your page today. It's better then the fog, i think.
Hang in there Teri,
He's come so far. You've come so far. You've carried us with you on this journey. Maybe the anger is coming to the surface now that you have time to breath. Keep in mind we're with you in spirit. Some are with you there. This is only the third inning. We play 9 innings in the bigs. They knocked dean down with the bow-tie, and look at the bench it cleared.......
Tell us what you need for us to do.

p.s. there;s no towels in baseball

Maria, you have a lot to say to your beloved Husband, and one of them IS NOT "I give up". You have been strong to this point, don't give in now. As the rest of your loved ones and family have said, God is with you and your family, and he still has a lot of things for Dean to do, like finish raising his son and seeing his grandchildren. So go outside, stand in an open field and just SCREAM it all out. (Please do not curse God for what happened, just ask Him for patience as He does His work with Dean). Then go back in and tell your husband you love him and that you will all get through this together.

God bless you, Maria, I know it has been a long road to this point and it will be a long road to the finish but you are on this road to the end. Don't give it up now.

You are all in our prayers every day and for me Dean is the first person I think about when I go out the door to work. And I say a small prayer for you, Riley and Dean.

We care. Gary and Susan Mason

Dean was lifted up in prayer at the end of our First Lutheran Church Choir rehearsal on Thursday evening.

We will also pray for him by name on Sunday morning, May 10, during our worship services.

For Dean - Psalm 61

"Hear our cries, O God, listen to our prayers;

from the end of the earth we call to you when our hearts are faint.

Lead us to the rock that is higher than we are,

for you have been our refuge,
a strong tower against our enemies.

Let us dwell in your tent forever.

Let us take refuge under the shelter of your wings!

For you, O God, have geard our vows,

You have given us the heritage of those who fear your name.

Prolong Dean's life...

Appoint steadfast love and faithfulness to watch over him!

So will we ever sing praises to your name as we perform our vows day after day."

*******

Praying that small signs of God's goodness and grace were experienced today "at Motel 6."

Stay strong, Maria. At the same time, remember, that God often does His best work when we are at our lowest and "ready to throw in the towel." He can handle the authentic responses of anger and despair...

Sincerely,
Laura Rusch
